About Dorkus Malorkis
Dorkus Malorkis was my nickname when I was a little girl. I got this nickname from my mom, because occasionally, I accidentally forgot to listen. When this happened, it often introduced valuable life lessons. If the situation was particularly entertaining, my mom recited the story, using a silly dog voice to our beloved dog, Baylee May.
Usually, these stories came to life before bedtime, while I lay on the couch, giggling, my mom sounded so funny. Do you ever talk to your dog in a funny voice? We highly recommend it!
These “Dorkus Malorkis” stories helped me learn many lessons with laughter. It reminded me not to take myself or my mistakes too seriously. It’s ok to laugh at ourselves, know we are loved regardless, learn a lesson, and move on!
Thank You!
We wrote this book in honor of my daughter, Nicole Begole, who loves to hear her Grammy J tell stories using her silly dog voice, about Dorkus Malorkis.
We’d like to give a special thanks to Vivian Kirkfield, Norah Wilson, Kelly Swemba, Jack Holt Jr, Kendrick Kidd, Katie Rutkowski, Kate Michalak, Brooklyn Macnamara and JD Black for inspiration and major support in the writing of this book. We’d also like to give a special shout out to Briggs Macnamara for the immeasurable hours of creative consultation and pre-reads.

Lastly, I’d like to thank my mom, Janelle Begole, for all her incredible love and countless lessons with laughter. This is absolutely my favorite childhood memory. We hope you enjoy reading these stories in your best and silliest dog voice!
